Hidden Depths

It has been a bit since I posted a puzzle. I should really make more. This one took a bit to get right. This is a variety cryptic so there is a bit of extra work involved to finish the puzzle.  One entry will tell you the problem and another will tell you the solution.  Good luck   Full screen link

A Jigsaw for AntZ

A second puzzle! This time it is an ABC jigsaw variation. So what is the starting point of ABC Jigsaws? Get a grid with 26 entries. Of course trying to do that in a smaller grid canwork but leaves a lot of answers with very short lengths. So I tried halfing the number of clues and using the first and last letters for my pangram.  It was rather constraining but I think the result is pretty good. This was made as an iPuz using a googlesheet provided by Alex Boisvert and I am posting it with a Crossword Nexus applet because they work with iPuz and Crosshare doesn't. Read the Notes for info on how to solve.

For me they are simply too big to work with and get the best out of myself. I dabbled trying to fill a few and honestly never got anywhere I wanted. They all felt watered down and the 5 or 6 clues that could be part of a theme or idea could never be tied together into a coherent grid.  I want my themes and ideas to scream at you in the whole puzzle rather than being hidden as a neat extra. So moving to smaller sized grids made sense. So far I enjoy working in 11x11 grids. Small and punchy puzzles.   Here is the first puzzle I made and published a couple of weeks ago that I think lives up to my expectations. I am on the verge of completing another couple of puzzles to my satisfaction (and the main inspiration for...
