First post, first puzzle

 Quirky Cryptics

Hi I am Faddy and sometimes I make cryptic crosswords. 

 

Hopefully there will be a minimum of one puzzle per month posted here.  

 

I am new to setting cryptics but I am gravitating away from Standard 15x15 grids for now. For me they are simply too big to work with and get the best out of myself. I dabbled trying to fill a few and honestly never got anywhere I wanted. They all felt watered down and the 5 or 6 clues that could be part of a theme or idea could never be tied together into a coherent grid. 

I want my themes and ideas to scream at you in the whole puzzle rather than being hidden as a neat extra. So moving to smaller sized grids made sense. So far I enjoy working in 11x11 grids. Small and punchy puzzles.

 

Here is the first puzzle I made and published a couple of weeks ago that I think lives up to my expectations. I am on the verge of completing another couple of puzzles to my satisfaction (and the main inspiration for creating this blog) So there shouldn't be long to wait for a fresh one
